StreetCrimes Apparel is an exciting new streetwear label boasting pure 100% Australian production, from cut, concept and design through to manufacture and print.

StreetCrimes is the brainchild of ex musician / cartoonist and graphic designer Theo Kats Antoni. Theo's illustration and design credits span well over 30 years.

From satire cartoonist for the very popular 'MAD' and 'CRACKED' magazines, designer of literally thousands of DVD and CD covers to the creation of multiple corporate identities including the well known logo for the Wests Tigers rugby league team, Theo's artistic portfolio is extensive to say the least.

The StreetCrimes Apparel idea and name came to Theo on a flight home from LA back in 2009. While in the US, he was frequently stopped and asked about a Rose Tattoo Tour T-shirt he was wearing at the time. This shirt was one of many shirts Theo designed for various rock bands over the years. As part of the design, this shirt also mentioned 'Sydney Australia' which strangely Americans found interesting. (The common consensus in the US is that Australian made apparel is mostly only made up of souvenir garments). While in New York one person's comments where: "Wow man that shirt is so street, don't you guys all decend from criminals?" Bingo!

Once back in Australia, Theo decided to immediately exercise his illustration talents to create a classic rock based series of designer shirts featuring his unique style and signature.

All StreetCrimes shirts are manufactured entirely in Australia. And why not, Australian cotton is as good if not better than most out there, particularly when compared to Asia. While the manufacturing exercise obviously costs more, delivery of the ultimate in quality is the final objective. Not to mention adding that 'international feel' to Australian made apparel without the use of native wild life depictions or boring, tired old themes that reflect a conservative and socially shy lifestyle which Australians certainly are not about! Ed Hardy proved that when he literally saturated our country with his brand of design.

StreetCrimes shirts are pre-shrunk for a perfect and permanent fit. They also feature comfortable non-elastic and low-profile collars, with beautifully colour-contrasted patterned outer stitching.
Most importantly though, Theo's powerful images hit their target not only with members of the rock and entertainment culture but with also lovers of general everyday street wear. The themes span from classic rock imagery, sports and military references, to romance, glitz and glitter. Down the track more and more diverse cultures will be introduced to his collection. Unlike other labels, which mostly use photos and jpegs, Theo's work is purely 'Vector Based' meaning perfectly streamlined, hand drawn line work. Ink and foil colours are carefully limited and based on the shirt and stitch colour. The art is usually incorporated all-around including back and sleeves.

StreetCrimes print styles are mostly discharge and water based. Some shirts also feature the use of rhinestones and foils.

Finally, while StreetCrimes Apparel currently only stocks T-shirts, the next wave of product will feature tank tops, raglans and mini dresses to mention a few. It all takes time and more of that paper stuff...
